The Most Important
Question
So if you died tonight, would you go to
Heaven?...and would they let you in?
When I went to college I became cynical of the
Christian faith. I learned that many Christians
don’t have the slightest idea why they believe...or
they believe you have to check your brain at the
door when you enter a church. I became atheistic,
and could rationalize away someone’s faith at the
drop of a hat. That was, until my own life fell
apart, and at the same time I heard prophecy -
someone spoke something from the Lord that
absolutely no one else knew. You know, if you
think about it, our selfish regard for our own
importance begins to crumble the minute we
realize that God does exist. Shortly after, I
dedicated my life to Christ following the steps
outlined in the gospel of John.
I understand that we do not have to show a
“blind” faith. The factual and deductive evidence is
overwhelming and stands on its own merits.
Consider the very existence of the Bible - no other
book has been the target of such a concerted
effort to disprove the writing. Yet, here it stands
today with undisputed archaeological evidence
proving the accurate of the content down through
the ages.
Consider the accuracy of the information in the
book. It’s one thing to predict, "there may be rain
on a Tuesday in 1998." You’d probably be OK on at
least one Tuesday. But to predict, "There will be a
virgin birth, the son of God, whose name will be
Jesus. He’ll be born in the small town of
Bethlehem, and he’ll live in Nazareth and be the
son of a carpenter. He’ll be crucified on the cross
and will come back to life in three days." Well,
that’d take a bit to complete. But that’s exactly
what happened! How about, "The Roman Empire
will become very large, and will fall not by
conquest but by division and internal decay, with
four sections…" and naming the sections. That
was written 400 years or so BEFORE the Roman
Empire even existed.
Consider the history and preservation of the
Israeli people. In the Bible, the Lord God makes a
covenant relationship with the nation of Israel. He
refers to Israel as "My Children", and promises to
regard them as His own nation forever. How many
OTHER nations from that period of time have
been preserved as an identifiable unit? Do you
have any Meades, or Mesopatanians in your
neighborhood? No other identifiable race of
people remains even after a few hundred years in
history…yet the Nation of Israel is still here,
identified, and FOLLOWING PRECISELY THE
PROPHESIES ON THEIR FUTURE! Who in the 30’s
would have guessed that Israel would again
become a geographical nation? Yet it fulfilled
prophesy.
Consider the prophesy for today as to where the
word is headed, and what political and economic
events will play into OUR future. It is not a stretch
of reason to read about the increased frequency
of earthquakes and natural disasters, or about the
economic controls which will be available to the
Antichrist when he is invited to take control of the
world’s governments.
Although real, evidence of the truth of Christianity
is not the point here. I can report to you that Jesus
is real- because I have seen His work in my life
and I have felt his arms around me - the depth of
love so great that it went forever! I have seen the
Holy Spirit’s power in miracles, and I have
received answers to questions and prayers that
only God could have provided. I have seen
changes in my life only He could have made! I
would urge you not to be afraid of learning the
truth - and that includes learning the truth about
God. God does exist. His son, Jesus, died on the
cross for our sins and rose again to life - His
appearance after his death witnessed by over 500
people. Accept the fact that you and I are born
into a world of sin. Accept the Bible report that we
have eternity either to live either with God, or
totally separated from Him. Jesus spoke to the
disciples that He was the ONLY way to the Father -
and we have but one choice: to confess our sin,
ask for forgiveness and confess our salvation to
those around us. It’s a simple step. What follows
in your life may NOT be simple- but it will be
satisfying, worthwhile, and absolutely wonderful!
